PERMANENT MAKEUP

How old do I have to be to get PMU at Eyela Beauty?

You must be 18 years or older to receive any PMU service at Eyela Beauty.

Can I exercise after getting an appointment?

You must avoid working out for 7 days following your cosmetic tattoo appointment.

Is the studio equipment safe?

Absolutely! I pride myself on having an immaculate and sterile studio space. I only use single use, disposable needles and supplies. This means that each set-up for each new client is discarded safely afterwards. My work station is thoroughly disinfected before opening and after each procedure throughout the day.

How will I look immediately after? What is the healing process?

Your semi-permanent makeup will appear darker and more intense than expected for the first 5-7 days. This will gradually lighten, and likely disappear.  Pigment will reappear as the skin regenerates. Redness and swelling are minimal.

Does the application hurt?

A highly-effective, topical anesthetic cream and gel are used for numbing during your procedure. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Having this service performed during your menstrual cycle may increase discomfort during your procedure.

How long does permanent makeup last?

The treatment is considered semi-permanent and will not wash off, however, it will fade over time and may need a touch-up every 1-2 years. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: the pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster), lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), and if any chemical peels come into contact with treated areas. Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin.   I will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

Touch-ups are normal for cosmetic tattoo procedures, with each new procedure requiring 2 visits. The initial procedure is followed by a touch-up procedure, 6-8 weeks later.

What should I know about long term care?

A good quality sunscreen should be applied daily AFTER healing is complete in order to keep colour true. As with any tattoo, sun exposure will make the colour fade faster.

Fading speed depends on your skintype, lifestyle, sun exposure, and pigment colour used.

MICROBLADING

How long is the appointment?

Appointments are booked on a 2 hour basis, allowing for thorough consultation and treatment time.

What should I do to prepare for my microblading?

  • If you have an ideal shape in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment.
  • If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days after the procedure.
  • We require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Aspirin, Niacin, and Ibuprofen.
  • Do not drink any alcohol the night before and day of your appointment and limit the amount of caffeine you consume.
  • If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
  • It is highly recommended that you avoid the SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule as your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

PMU - EYELINER

How does permanent eyeliner interact with eyelash extensions?

Unfortunately, eyelash extensions MUST be removed before eyeliner treatment. You can have your extensions reapplied after you complete your 2nd eyeliner touchup

I'm allergic to most makeup, especially eye makeup.  Will permanent eyeliner be safe for me?

Absolutely. Many women choose permanent eyeliner as the solution to their sensitive eyes. Say "good-bye" to watery, runny eyes and smeary makeup forever! However, a patch test is recommended

I have very sensitive eyes.  Is there anything I can do prior to my appointment to ensure that I am able to go through with the treatment?

Yes.  We do adequate pre numbing, but if you're still concerned, you can talk to your doctor about getting a prescription for something that can help calm your nerves. I do not work on anyone who has consumed alcohol, as it is a blood thinner and will not retain pigment due to excess bleeding.

What is the difference between a lash line enhancement and regular liner?

A lash line enhancement is basically just  depositing pigment between the lashes, and minimally on top of the lash line to make the lashes appear thicker. Regular eyeliner is a noticeable line above the lash line, sometimes with a slight or dramatic wing

PMU - LIP BLUSH

I am prone to cold sores, will this treatment cause an outbreak?

Most likely yes.  However, start taking an anti-viral medication 5 days prior to your appointment, and for 7 days following the appointment.

Can I get my lips blushed if I have cosmetic fillers?

Yes.

Will my lips swell? And for how long?

Swelling occurs during the procedure and usually lasts for about 24-36 hours. A cold compress can be used to reduce swelling.

Lips are quite sensitive, does this procedure hurt a lot?

We numb your lips for 20 minutes prior, and keep you comfortable with a numbing solution during the procedure to ensure maximum comfort.

I want a light colour once it heals. Does that mean I have to do a darker colour initially?

Yes. The closer to your natural lip colour you choose, the less noticeable the final results will be.

PLASMA SKIN TIGHTENING

What does Plasma actually do to the skin?

The Plasma pen emits a plasma flash causing a micro-millimetre sized trauma to the skin. This superficial point minimizes the skin in its immediate vicinity-which reduces the excess skin. This transfers a small amount of heat to the deeper layers of skin, which stimulates tightening, collagen and skin regeneration. A series of tiny brown spots are strategically placed to attain the desired result for the excess skin.

The skin around the spot tightens, pulling the cells closer together. It’s the only treatment to successfully reduce excess skin other than surgery.

Is this treatment painful?

Everyone has a varying perception of pain. Some people describe a degree of discomfort whilst others are quite comfortable.

Does the skin hurt afterwards?

Afterwards there may be some swelling and discomfort. This can be managed with Tylenol, and ice packs, and will subside after only a few days.

Are the results immediate?

The plasma flash produces a carbonisation affect that shrinks the skin immediately. The skin will be noticeably tighter immediately after, but needs time to heal completely.  The final results will continue to improve over the next eight weeks.

The number of treatment sessions required will depend upon the degree of tightening / lifting required. This will be discussed during the consultation.

Some treatments such as moles and skin tags may only require one session.

How long do the results last for?

In skin tightening, the skin reduced and tightened by the Plasma pen will not re-stretch, however no treatment can prevent any future aging, all we can do is treat it as it occurs. It is possible to have additional skin tightening treatments down the line as further wrinkles or sagging naturally occur. Moles and skin tags are permanently removed.

What areas can Plasma Skin Tightening treat?

Eyelids, under eyes, forehead lines, frown lines, nasolabial folds (smile lines), jowls, neck, loose tummy skin, sagging belly buttons, and anywhere else you have loose skin that you would like tightened. Will not work on fatty tissue.

Is there any downtime associated with the treatment?

Although the treatment itself is non invasive with no cutting or stitches, the healing process can be quite alarming depending on the area treated.  Significant swelling can occur (especially with upper eyelid treatment) which can cause some fear and panic for clients who haven't been well informed on what to expect. Carbon crusts (scabs) are present immediately after, and will take anywhere from three to ten days to flake off.

How long does a treatment take?

To minimize any discomfort, numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area. It will take 30-40 minutes for the anesthetic to take effect. The procedure itself takes between 20-30 min depending on the size of the treated area. Plan to be in your appointment for 1.5 hours, giving plenty of time to go over paper work, and aftercare instructions.

Are there any side effects

Plasma Skin Tightening is very safe and side effects are rare.  Infection, scarring and temporary change of skin pigmentation may occur. Carbon crusts, which are tiny superficial dots, form directly on the skin being treated and are part of the normal healing process. When correctly treated, will cause no threat, and will fall off in five to seven days after treatment. Mild swelling is expected during the first three days, and can be treated by taking an antihistamine.

Are there any specific aftercare instruction?

Yes, it is very important to follow our aftercare instructions  Carbon crusts CANNOT be scratched or removed. Light cleansing twice daily with an alcohol free soap (Dove), along with drying skin by dabbing with a clean lint free cloth is allowed. Healing skin should be protected from direct sun with SPF50 cream. Sports, swimming and saunas are not permitted until crusts fall off. This should happen within 7 days of procedure.

Can I use cosmetics after the procedure?

No, the treated area will be covered with carbon crusts which form during the treatment.  They should not be rubbed off, and therefor it is necessary to avoid any moisturizing creams for five to seven days. Makeup needs to be avoided as well, as it can harbour bacteria, causing an infection. In addition, patients need to avoid all direct heat sources such as sunlight, UV radiation, saunas, etc for a period of at least four weeks.

LASH LIFT

What is a Lash Lift?

It's a lifting technique designed to give you longer-looking lashes without the need for lash extensions. It will look as if you used a really good eyelash curler, only this lift lasts for 6 to 8 weeks! The procedure takes about 45 to 60 mins to complete.

How do I prepare for the treatment?

Please come to your appointment with NO EYE MAKEUP ON. For better results, remain mascara-free for 24 hours before your treatment. If you wear contacts, please remove them prior to your lash lift.

Lash Lifts vs. Lash Extensions:

Lash extensions and lash lifts are 2 very different  procedures.. I will not be adding any additional lashes. I will simply be curling your natural lashes. That said, for most, it can make your lashes appear fuller because they are so uplifted.

What aftercare is required?

Do not get your lashes wet or apply anything at all to them for 24 hours. This includes cooking over steam, saunas and makeup remover wipes. Be careful not to sleep on your side or face where your lashes would rub against your pillow as the lashes are still malleable and may cause them to fall. Do not rub or play with the lashes, if any irritation occurs apply a clean cold wet pad to the eye area or contact your doctor. After the initial 24-48 hours you may go back to your normal routine. It is best to use oil-free makeup removers and hydrating mascaras. Do not use waterproof mascara as this can be too drying on the lashes.

How long does it last?

6-8 weeks. For some it can last up to 10 weeks. The average lifespan of the natural lash is anywhere from 45-90 days, depending on each individual.

Does it damage lashes?

If the service is done carefully, the lashes should not show signs of damage since the lifting solution is not being applied all the way to the tips of the lashes. If the lashes are weak and/or damaged before receiving the treatment, it is recommended to wait until your lashes have grown a bit stronger to prevent further damage and over processing.

Is it painful?

The treatment is not painful, but its does feel a little strange while initially applying the pads. This can be a very relaxing service. If you are claustrophobic, we do not recommend receiving a Lash Lift since you are required to keep your eyes closed for a minimum of 45 minutes.
